Something About Pearls

I haven’t always loved pearls. For most of my life they seemed boring or drab, lacking the deeper substance of other gems. That all started to change about 10 years ago and my view of them has undergone a full makeover. Now, I love them.

As I have grown as a person, I have developed a deep sense of awe on the pearls elegance and simplicity. The process behind making a pearl is alluring; water creatures taking a grain of sand and transforming into something beautiful. The irregular shapes and textures of freshwater pearls has its own sort of magic. These water snow flakes that started from something so simple reminds me of how even from the most unlikely places, strengh and beauty can emerge. Pearls seem to have an inner glow and luminosity that whispers of their deep origins and growth, all encapsulated in shells.

Pearls also have a deep symbolism, representing wisdom acquired through experience. They are believed to attract wealth and luck as well as offer protection. Known for their calming effect, pearls can balance one's karma, strengthen relationships, and keep children safe. The pearl is also said to symbolize the purity, generosity, integrity, and loyalty of its wearer.

With Shi Studio, I have been designing and working more and more with pearls having created a couple of specific styles just to showcase the pearl. Here are some Shi pearl creations on the website but stay tuned for a whole new array of pearl design to be launched on the website early April!

The Centered Necklace artfully frames the delicate dangling Shi silk charm in a ring of shining silver with freshwater pearl accents.

Take the plunge with this sexy and elegant drop necklace. This Shi piece sits higher on the chest with the delicate descending silver chain culminating in a single gem or tiny cluster of gems.

The Toggle Necklace is a stunning silver drop necklace centered with a silver toggle clasp. An alluring length of silver chain and gems dangle from the Shi piece suspended from the silver clasp. The toggle clasp pushes inwards, allowing you to clasp and unclasp the necklace chain and interchange your Shi strand with other Toggle Necklace strands.
